An Overview of the Electrical Grid

Here's a quick overview of the Electric Grid. First, you've got to realize the electricity is just as important as the food we eat. We don't realize just how important it is to our day to day, unless it is no longer there! In fact, I would go as far to say that electrical power has contributed greatly our the US's Economic prosperity, national security, and public health and safety advances. Did you know that the Nation's "electric bill" is about $247 billion, paid by America's 131 million electricity customers, which America operates with nearly 157000 miles of high voltage (>230kV) electric transmission lines. While electricity demand increased by about 25% since 1990.
